創作背景
1964年，Paul Simon移居歐洲後，開始在巴黎和英國倫敦各種民間俱爾部中演出。返回紐約後，他與CBS的唱片公司簽約，制作人為Tom Wilson，並且重新與他的老搭檔Garfunkel合作。
他們在1964年錄制的專輯《Wednesday Morning》，其中包括歌曲《The Sound Of Silence》的銷量不是很好，使得Simon返回倫敦。
1967年，Paul Simon和Garfunkel有壹個重要的計劃是為電影《畢業生》擔任音樂制作，在1968年哥倫比亞唱片公司發行的電影原聲唱片中，人們聽到了《寂靜之聲》 。
